What to Bring

Reef shoes: Essential. Almost all Dahab snorkeling spots have coral or rock at the water's edge. You can rent them in town for 30–50 EGP.
Reef-safe sunscreen: Regular sunscreen kills coral. Reef-safe options available at local dive shops. Or wear a rash guard instead.
Underwater camera: The Go Pro-style cameras available for rent at most dive centers ($20/day) are worth it — Dahab's reef life is spectacular.

Snorkeling vs Diving

About 70% of Dahab's marine life is visible from the surface. The best coral is typically in the top 0–8 metres, which snorkeling covers. You don't need to dive to have an extraordinary underwater experience here. That said, if you want to see the deeper walls, swim into cave systems, or dive the Blue Hole properly, scuba diving opens up a different world.
