Best Time for Diving
Diving in Dahab is excellent year-round. The best visibility (25–30m) occurs in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the water is clearest. Summer (June–August) has the warmest water but slightly reduced visibility. Winter (December–February) is cooler — you'll want a 5mm wetsuit — but the water is calmer and reefs less crowded.
Best Time for Kitesurfing & Windsurfing
The Red Sea wind in Dahab is strongest from March through October. Peak kitesurfing season is May–September when the thermal wind is most reliable and strongest (18–30 knots average). March–April and September–October offer slightly lighter but very consistent wind — often better for learning. Winter (November–February) has lighter, less consistent wind — fine for experienced kiters but not ideal for lessons.
Best Time for Budget Travel
January–February and November–December are the quietest months. Fewer tourists means better hotel rates (often 20–40% cheaper), more availability and a more local feel. The weather is still very pleasant — warm enough to swim and sunbathe, just not peak summer heat.
Rainfall
Dahab receives almost no rain — roughly 25mm per year total. When it does rain (usually December–February), it's brief. The desert surrounding Dahab means flash flood risk in certain wadis after heavy rain further inland, but this rarely affects town. You can effectively plan any outdoor activity knowing rain won't be a factor.
