Dahab is technically a year-round destination — there's no rainy season, no monsoon, nothing to truly avoid. But the experience varies significantly by season. Here's what to expect at each time of year.

October–November: Best Overall

If you can only go once, go in October or November. Air temperatures are 24–30°C — warm without being brutal. Water is still warm from summer (25–28°C). Wind is consistent for kitesurfing. Diving visibility is at its best (25–30m). Tourist numbers are below peak. Hotel prices are fair. This is when Dahab is at its best.

March–May: Excellent

Spring is the second-best window. Temperatures are comfortable (22–30°C), wind picks up for kitesurfing from March, water clarity is excellent, and there are fewer package tourists than in high summer. A great time for a first visit or for combining diving with kitesurfing.

June–August: Good for Water, Hot on Land

High summer means 35–40°C on land — uncomfortably hot for anyone not spending most of the day in the water. But the water itself is magnificent (27–29°C), wind is strong for kitesurfing, and this is when European summer holidaymakers arrive en masse. Hotel prices peak. If you love the heat and plan to be on or in the water all day, this works. If you're planning any desert trips or walking, avoid it.

December–February: Budget Season

Winter is the quietest time. Hotel prices drop 20–40%. Water is cooler (20–22°C) — you'll want a 5mm wetsuit for diving. Air temperatures are pleasant (18–24°C) — fine for daytime activities, can get cold at night (10–15°C). Good time for budget travellers who aren't bothered by cooler water. Wind is lighter and less consistent — not ideal for learning to kitesurf.
